EFFECTS OF THE TRAINING MICROCYCLE ON THE SUCCESS IN MARATHON

Ratko Pavlović, Aleksandar Raković, Zoran Radić, Aleksandar Simeonov

Of all athletic disciplines marathon is the most demanding and most versatile discipline in which athlete absorbs his psycho-physical capacity to the maximum. It is not rare for athletes to give up on the race due to a disruption in their psycho-physical status caused by the race length, possible injuries, and the impact of endogene factors. The very duration of the race, on average around 2,5 h, is the indicator of the extreme psycho-physical strain which the body of the racer is resisting. The paper deals with a microcycle of our marathon runner, Đura Kodža, realized in practice. Microcycle lasted 20 training days. The applied microcycle yielded results on the 18th Večernjakov Zagreb Marathon 2009 event, with the achieved time of 2.24:42.
