The Olympic Sports Organizations (OSO) exists in almost every country in the world. The pyramidal structure of the OSOs says that foundation of this structure are the athletes, that are member of the sport clubs and they are member of the National Sports federations (NSFs), that are members of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) and of the International Sports Federations (ISF) and they are members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The NOCs are one of the three constituents of the Olympic Movement, alongside the IOC and the ISF. The mission of the NOCs is to develop, promote and protect the Olympic Movement in their respective countries, in accordance with the Olympic Charter. The jurisdiction of the NOCs must coincide with the borders of the country in which it is established and has its headquarters. In the Olympic Charter, a “country” is defined as an independent state recognized by the international community.
